WI-Fi networks can present connection problems with some devices, these problems may be that the Wi-Fi network is not recognized, the speed is slow, etc. However, we can solve some of these problems with the following methods.
Slow Wi-Fi
This problem is one of the most recurrent in WI-Fi, so in order to help mitigate this on our device, we can do any of the following:
-
Turning the Wi-Fi off and on - it helps us to reestablish the connection to the network, since there could be an error when connecting.
-
Airplane mode - this is like doing a reboot of the device, only the only thing we turn off are the antennas that receive the signals.
-
Turn off the services that you do not use - services such as data from the cellular network, bluetooth or NFC can cause interference in the Wi-Fi so if you are not using them, it is recommended to have them turned off.
-
Background applications - in general, the mobile phone may be making updates or uploading files in the background, this can cause slowness; so we should check if there are applications running and pause them or wait for them to finish.
-
Restart device - in case you still have problems restart your computer, this can solve many errors and is usually very effective.
- Restart modem - if you restart your computer and it continues to be slow, restart your modem and in many cases the service is restored correctly.
-
Updates - remember to always keep your device and applications updated, it may be that having a previous version is causing us problems.
Wi-Fi does not connect
In the event that our device cannot connect to the Wi-Fi network, we can do one of the following:
-
Wi-FI on - verify that Wi-FI is on on your device.
-
Verify password - the password entered may be wrong or the device has forgotten it, so you have to go to the Wi-Fi section and select the network you want to connect to; in case it does not connect, enter the password again.
-
Forget network - if we can see the Wi-Fi network and the device does not connect, we must proceed to forget the network and try to connect again. Remember that you will ask us for the password again.
In case we continue to have problems, we can proceed to carry out some solutions for slow Wi-Fi such as Turn Wi-Fi off and on, Airplane mode, Restart or Update our device.
Device does not detect Wi-FI network
When other devices detect the Wi-FI network, but yours does not, we can perform any of the following actions:
-
Turn Wi-Fi on and off - you must turn off your Wi-Fi, wait 30 seconds and then turn it on again.
-
Airplane mode - we will put our device in airplane mode for 1 min and we will deactivate it to see if it detects the network.
-
Restart - in case you still have problems, turn off your computer, wait 30 seconds and turn it on again.
-
Updates - remember to always update your device since the system version may not be compatible with the Wi-FI network.
-
Restart modem - if you restart your computer and it continues to be slow, restart your modem and in many cases the service is restored correctly.
-
Factory reset - in case our device does not detect ANY Wi-FI network we can proceed to perform a factory reset. Just remember that for this you will have to back up the information on your device to install it later.
Wi-Fi turns off and on
When the Wi-Fi of your device is turned off and on, there may be a fault in your device, the actions we can take are:
-
Reboot - some of these failures can be easily fixed by rebooting the device.
-
Updates - update our device to the latest available version provided by the manufacturer.
- Restart modem - if you restart your computer and it continues to be slow, restart your modem and in many cases the service is restored correctly.
-
Factory reset - perform a factory reset of our device. Just remember that for this you will have to make a backup of the information of your device to install it later.
In the event that none of these solutions work, it is best to take your device to the technical service of your manufacturer.
Weak Wi-FI signal
When the Wi-Fi signal on your device is weak or comes and goes, we can do the following to help our device have better signal reception:
-
Get moving - the problem may be where you are, so you can try changing places.
-
Mirrors and metal surfaces - avoid being near mirrors or on metal surfaces. These materials cause the Wi-Fi signal to bounce and thus affect service.
-
Appliances - electronic devices such as microwave ovens, refrigerators, televisions, cordless phones, etc. They can interfere with the Wi-Fi signal, so it is recommended, as far as possible, to be as far away from them as possible.
